SHOULD CHRISTIANS DRINK ALCOHOL?

According to God's words, the answer is no because;
1. Drinking alcohol causes suffering
The Bible says in Habakkuk 2:15, " Woe unto nim that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! "
-Drinking alcohol brings suffering; The medical authorities say that with every drink one shortens his life twenth minutes. One person dies every twenty-one minutes in an alcohol-related auto accident. Of course, that does not mean much to us unless someone we know is involved. Statistics indicate that one out of every two people will be involved in an alcohol-related accident in their lifetime. You may say, "It's none of my business." If you have never taken a drink, it is still your business because half of us are going to be hurt by someone who is drinking. It could be you or one of your precious children that is the next to be killed. The world is suffering for many reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is beverage alcohol-beer, wine coolers, liquor, and all the rest. God is against it because it causes suffering.
2. Drinkin alcohol causes shame
Nakedness and shame come from alcohol use. The Bible says in Habakkuk 2:15, "Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! "
-Have you ever seen drunken women? These women had no regard for what they did; they had no shame in showing their bodies or using filthy language because of drinking liquor.
The Word of God says in Habakkuk 2:16, "Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD's right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory."
-This verse sixteen means that they would be vomiting on their own glory. Young men and ladies have started out looking beautiful. Somehow they found their way into a singles' bar or some "club," and the Devil lied to them until everything good was gone. No honor was left. Their honor was given to the cruel, and now all that is left is shame.
Read this warning that the Lord gives us in Hosea 4:6, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."
-You may need to share this with someone someday because God will use His Word to speak to that person. God is speaking here about the leadership of Israel and what happened to them. He rejects them, and notice why.
The Bible continues in Hosea 4:7-11, "As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD. Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart."
-God says the entire problem came with whoredom and drinking, and He had reject His own people.
The Bible says in Isaiah 28:7, "But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment."
In Proverbs 20:1, the Bible says, "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is ragign: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
And also in Proverbs 23:19, the Bible says, "Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way. Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh." This means if you have gotten into the company of drinkers, you had better find another crowd (friends).
Read through Proverbs 23:20-35, you will understand that alcohol causes shame.
*The good news is the drinking alcohol can be stopped, the Lord Jesus Christ can make a person to stop drinking. But you can't fight your way through by yourself, you need God's power. You may say, "I'll never take another drink." That will not do it. It is not just turning from the evil; it is turning to the Lord that we need.
*Ask Him to forgive your sin and by faith trust Him as your Saviour. Are you a Christian? If we are truly Christians, then may everyone of us say, "By the grace of God, we will live for Christ."
-The Lord Jesus loves you. He will forgive you for everything you have ever done and come to live in your life. He will give you the Holy Spirit to disire you to do what is right if you will simply trust Him. No one can love Him for you. Others can pray for you and they can love you, but you must give your heart to Him. May God help you to do this today. Promise the Lord you will never put liquor to your lips!
